Liverpool are set to face their biggest test of the 2025-26 season as they gear up to take on Arsenal in a Premier League clash on Sunday.

At the moment, both teams have perfect records in the top flight, with each having six points to their name.

Arsenal and Liverpool are two of the most likely contenders for the Premier League title this season, and, although it’s still early in the campaign, these three points could mean an awful lot at some stage this term.

Arne Slot and Mikel Arteta have both spent a decent amount of money to try and bolster their ranks this summer, and since there has been such a massive overhaul of players from both sides, neither are at their best at the moment.

“I think from what I’ve seen so far, toss a coin [between who wins out of Liverpool and Arsenal],” Murphy said.

To which Jim White replied: “Really?”

Murphy then added: “I thought Liverpool were really good against Bournemouth in spells, but they looked a bit vulnerable.

“I thought they were poor at Newcastle, I thought Arsenal were sluggish [and] creativeless against United and then really powerful and looked bang at it when they won at the weekend, both have some issues.”

Going into the 2025-26 campaign, there wasn’t a doubt in anyone’s mind that Liverpool wouldn’t come away with the Premier League title this season.

However, after they lost the Community Shield to Crystal Palace in their first competitive game of the season, questions were asked.

Indeed, they may have also managed to win both of their Premier League games thus far, but even they came with great difficulty.

Of course, this game won’t be the be-all and end-all of the season, but it will give fans a good idea of how close the two teams actually are to one another.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for Sunday, but one thing is for sure: it’ll certainly be a game that’s full of fireworks.
