Diogo Jota’s family are set to be in attendance at Anfield this Friday evening as Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign against AFC Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old forward tragically lost his life in a car accident last month, and the club have invited his loved ones to witness a series of heartfelt tributes in his honour.

Before kick-off, there will be a minute’s silence across the stadium, with both Liverpool players and supporters wearing black armbands.

A special mosaic reading “Forever 20” will be unfurled in the Kop and the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand, while images of Jota and his late brother André Silva will flash on the big screens.

In a permanent gesture, Liverpool has retired Jota’s No.

20 shirt across all teams after consulting with his family.

Beyond Anfield, Chelsea’s squad has also shown their respect off the field.

From their FIFA Club World Cup prize money, the Blues set aside a £11.4 million bonus pool for players.

In a unanimous decision, they have donated a substantial portion of that bonus to the families of Diogo Jota and André Silva.

And the footballing world continues to come together, with a Bournemouth supporters’ group planning a tribute for the former Portugal international.

In a statement posted on X, the Cherries Trust revealed their plans for their tribute to the late Diogo Jota and Andre Silva:

“Tonight, supporters of both Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth will take part in a moments silence before kick-off in honour of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva,” they wrote.

“Cherries supporters have worked together to arrange for a flag to be passed through the away section, which echoes Bournemouth fans’ solidarity and condolences.”

“This will be displayed for a couple of minutes before the match?

The banner has side handles to help pull it up.”

“If you are in the section under the banner, please feed it above your heads.”
