Liverpool’s dream transfer target is Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
The Premier League champions are keen on signing the 25-year-old, who wants to explore a move away despite the Magpies qualifying for the Champions League.
Newcastle rejected the Reds’ opening offer for Isak last Friday.
The Sweden international was left out of the Newcastle squad for their pre-season tour of Asia with a “minor thigh injury”, however, he has since returned to training, but he’s been frozen out.
Liverpool have already made a number of additions to their squad this summer and are expected to make at least two more signings.
They have signed Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Armin Pecsi.
Barcola preferred over Rodrygo
Several players continue to be linked with a move to Anfield.
Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is attracting strong interest from Liverpool.
On Wednesday, L’Équipe reported that Liverpool want to sign Barcola, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
The Reds have long admired the 22-year-old, who played as a false nine under PSG head coach Luis Enrique last season.
RMC Sport‘s Fabrice Hawkins disclosed that the France international can only leave PSG if he asks to go and a €100m fee is met.
Barcola racked up 64 appearances, scored 21 goals, and provided 21 assists for PSG last term as they won their first-ever Champions League title after beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
On Thursday, ESPN reported that the Ligue 1 champions rejected two approaches from Liverpool for the versatile forward.
It is reported that Liverpool’s first approach was turned down earlier this summer, and a second on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich also made an approach, which has been rejected, according to ESPN.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Rodrygo.
He is set to play bit part role under Xabi Alonso next season and the Spanish side may look to cash in on the 24-year-old.
Liverpool are believed to prefer Barcola over Rodrygo should the Reds make a move for either.
Barcola joined PSG from fellow Ligue side Lyon in 2023.
Ibrahima Konate and Hugo Ekitike are believed to be selling the club to Barcola?
The two French internationals are believed to be playing a role in opening the 22-year-old’s mind up to a move to Merseyside.
Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s number one attacking target this summer.
