Alisson and Brazil were able to comfortably cruise past Chile in their 17th South American qualifying match for the World Cup.

Rodrygo opened the scoring with a low finish early on, Bruno Guimarães doubled the lead from the edge of the box before halftime, and Luiz Henrique wrapped it up after coming off the bench.

The 3-0 win cements Brazil’s top spot in the CONMEBOL qualifying group, extending their run having already qualified for the 2026 World Cup in the USA.

It was a dominating perforamnce from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with the Liverpool shotstopper not having an awful lot to do.

Brazilian outlet GeGlobo suggest the only reason he didn’t got unnoticed was that he was forced to make a point-blank save in the second half only for the sequence of play to be ruled offside.

They gave him a 6/10 and wrote:

“He only didn’t go unnoticed in the game because he made a beautiful save on a point-blank header at the end of the first half, but the Chilean Paulo Díaz was offside.”

Terra was warmer and gave the Liverpool man a 7.5/10 and but just wrote a general reaction to the game:

“Brazil thrashed Chile 3-0 at the Maracanã and confirmed the first good moment after the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti.”

Meanwhile, Alisson revealed his delight at working with former Liverpool coach Claudio Taffarel once again.

Taffarel left Liverpool in the summer to pursue a role as Goalkeeper Preparation Coordinator for the Brazil.

“It is very good to be able to work alongside Taffarel?

For me, he is a reference on and off the pitch,” Alisson said as quoted by GeGlobo

“As a goalkeeping coach, he has been one of the main people responsible for helping me play at a high level for many years at Liverpool.”

“I will continue to work hard, as I have done for years, to be able to play another World Cup

And I hope to follow Taffarel and be part of the select group of world champions with the Brazil national team.”

“In my opinion, Taffarel is the greatest goalkeeper in the history of the Seleção.”
