Brentford have submitted a bid for a new striker worth a club-record fee as they seek to bolster Keith Andrews’ attacking options ahead of the end of the transfer window.

It has been all change at the Gtech Community Stadium this summer with head-coach Thomas Frank being snapped up by Tottenham and top-scorer Bryan Mbeumo making a move to Man United.

More high-profile outgoings are possible in the coming days with Yoane Wissa wanting to join Newcastle, but that saga has waged on for a while now with little progress seemingly being made.

As with every transfer window, the dominoes could soon fall, as Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade makes a move to Newcastle, which then could see Alexander Isak join Liverpool, with the Magpies then able to spend money on another striker – most likely Wissa.

The Bees will be aware of the 28-year-old’s desire to depart soon, and with Dango Ouattara already through the door, they are now looking to add a high-profile striker to their ranks.

According to a new report from Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Brentford have submitted a bid in region of £45m for Borussia Dortmund striker Max Beier.

If accepted, that fee would be a new club-record buy for the Bees, but Dortmund are still weighing up whether to go ahead with the deal and it is now down to them to proceed.
