Newcastle United have already seen two bids rejected by Brentford for Yoane Wissa, with their latest offer worth up to £40million including add-ons.

The Bees had already turned down an opening £25million bid earlier in the summer.

Wissa was absent from Brentford’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend, with head coach Keith Andrews confirming his omission was linked to ongoing speculation about the forward’s future.

Brentford have already endured a difficult window, losing Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, captain Christian Nørgaard to Arsenal, and head coach Thomas Frank.

Ahead of Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second-round tie at Bournemouth, Andrews revealed that the DR Congo international will not feature but stressed he expects Wissa to remain a Brentford player beyond the transfer window.

“What goes on is going on at every single club I imagine, up and down the land, the disruptive nature of it.

But the focus is on the group tomorrow,” Andrews said.

“So, Yoane won’t be involved?

But as far as I’m concerned, there’s been no movement in any way and fully expect Yoane to be here come next Tuesday.”

“I knew there was, or would be, interest,” added Andrews.

“Naturally, when you score that amount of Premier League goals and play as well as he did last season in particular.

“He’s built his career at this football club over the last four years where he’s grown in stature, presence

I’m not surprised by it.”

Wissa has scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for the Bees from French side Lorient.

According to iNews, a move for Yoane Wissa remains unlikely, with Brentford maintaining their firm not-for-sale stance.

The Bees consider it too late in the transfer window to find an adequate replacement for the 28-year-old.

Newcastle must now either pay a premium for other targets or risk four months without a recognised striker.
