Brighton supporters have reacted all but unanimously to a decision made by Chelsea on Facundo Buonanotte after his loan deal was made official earlier this week.
Chelsea had a busy summer window with the majority of their business completed before the Club World Cup, as players such as Joao Pedro and Liam Delap made an instant impact.
Other signings included signing Jamie Gittens from Dortmund, Jorrel Hato from Ajax, but more notably, a loan deal for Buonanotte in the final days of the window.
Brighton sanctioned a loan deal for Buonanotte to Chelsea, though crucially with no option or obligation to buy.
The move raised eyebrows among supporters, given Chelsea’s already stacked squad
Now, the latest decision from the club regarding their new signing has only added to that confusion and frustration from the Brighton fans, many of whom remain puzzled as to why the deal was agreed in the first place.

After the end of the summer transfer window, Chelsea had to name their squad for the Champions League first phase, and Enzo Maresca opted not to include Buonanotte in the squad list.

Despite Levi Colwill suffering a long-term injury, he was included in the A list, whilst academy products such as Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong were named in the B list.
The decision has only heightened confusion over the signing as Buonanotte was in talks to sign with Leeds, with a high possibility he would feature after the Whites decided against signing Manor Solomon.
The Argentine was on loan to Leicester City last term, where he was a regular feature, contributing to nine goals and assists, but now faces even more competition for places.

Chelsea’s decision has angered Brighton supporters, who fear their 20-year-old youngster may now struggle for meaningful minutes after his loan move.
With teams such as West Ham and Nottingham Forest also showing interest in Buonanotte, the Argentine may have found more game time, but that has only gotten harder at his new club as he will not play for the first phase of the Champions League.
Brighton supporters have shared their frustration for their youngster, with one reacting to the news with: “From the outset this just looks like a complete waste of a season of his career”, with another adding, “time for recall in January if that’s the case.”
