Bruno Fernandes is likely to leave Man United after renewed interest from sides outside of the Premier League.
Fernandes endured a miserable game against Brentford as the 30-year-old continues to struggle to adapt to the new central-midfield role that Ruben Amorim is asking him to play.
The 30-year-old missed a penalty with the score at 2-1 against the Bees, with Keith Andrews‘ side going on to score a late goal to win 3-1.
And following interest from abroad last summer, it seems increasingly likely that this season will be Fernandes‘ last at Old Trafford.

Fernandes chose to reject offers from Saudi Pro League sides last summer, opting to remain at Old Trafford.
The club, for its part, left the decision entirely in the club captain’s hands, but that in and of itself suggests they were not opposed to the idea of parting ways with the midfielder.

Having missed out on Champions League football, the prospect of a windfall from Fernandes’ sale would have appealed to Man United, but a deal never came to fruition.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed on X that the former Sporting CP man is one of the primary names on SPL club’s wish list for 2026, alongside Bernardo Silva, Andrey Santos, and Harry Kane.
What’s more, the transfer expert added that “dealmakers [are] optimistic on Fernandes”.
A year ago, even six months ago, the prospect of selling Fernandes appeared disastrous for United.
However, having been moved into an uncomfortable role as a number eight to accommodate summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, the club’s captain has become a liability.
Put simply, if United do decide to keep Fernandes, it must come at the cost of Amorim, as the 30-year-old simply does not fit into his system.

And as mentioned above, the lack of revenue without European football is now putting the onus on the Red Devils to be more self sufficient.
At 30, Fernandes is an asset with depreciating value, and if his form continues to plummet, selling him may solve a number of United’s problems.
