Bruno Guimaraes among Newcastle stars to respond to Alexander Isak's first Liverpool goal message

Newcastle United stars have continued to interact with Alexander Isak despite his controversial summer exit from St James’ Park.

After a drawn-out transfer saga, Isak joined Liverpool from Newcastle on deadline day.

The Magpies responded by signing fellow strikers Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, who are vying to achieve success in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

On Tuesday, 23 September, Isak scored his first goal for Arne Slot’s men as Liverpool defeated Southampton 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool’s victory over Southampton arrived on a mixed night at Anfield, as Hugo Ekitike was sent off after being shown two yellow cards.

Isak took to Instagram on Wednesday, 24 September to share an image of him celebrating his first goal for the Reds.

Despite the nature of the 26-year-old’s Newcastle exit, his post attracted likes from former teammates Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock, and Sven Botman.

While Isak led the line in Liverpool’s Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid and their Carabao Cup triumph over Southampton, the Sweden star is yet to start for the Reds in the Premier League.

However, that could change now that Ekitike is suspended for the top-flight clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, 27 September following his ‘silly’ red card against Southampton.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt man has adjusted well to the Premier League, scoring three goals and producing one assist in five appearances.

Therefore, Isak must seize the opportunity to show Arne Slot that he is the right man to start for Liverpool over Ekitike regularly.

Slot’s men are vying for their sixth consecutive Premier League win when they face Palace, but the Eagles have not been beaten in the top flight since their 5-0 loss to Newcastle back in April.

Meanwhile, the Reds will strive to end the month with a victory over Galatasaray in their second Champions League outing.
