Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes shared a cryptic response just minutes after Alexander Isak dropped his bombshell statement in an attempt to force a move to Liverpool.
Newcastle were caught off guard by Isak’s statement on 19 August, which came moments after he was named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Team of the Year for the 2024/25 season.
The Swedish striker is currently absent from Eddie Howe’s squad, having already missed the pre-season tour.
Isak has since refused to train and was left out of the squad for the opening-day clash against Aston Villa.
The side had been exploring options to strengthen their forward line this summer, but approaches for Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko and Joao Pedro have all been unsuccessful.
In response to the striker’s statement, Newcastle denied any prior agreement allowing Isak to leave, stressing they do not expect “conditions being met” for a potential sale.
Amid the uncertainty, Guimaraes added intrigue with his own subtle post on social media, which many were quick to interpret as a reaction to his teammate’s situation.

The midfielder reposted content from the Premier League’s official South American account, which was captioned: “We are The Premier.
South America presents Part 3.”
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider during the club’s pre-season tour of Singapore, Guimaraes claimed Newcastle want to keep hold of their best players but explained that he was only sidelined through injury.
While the situation surrounding Isak has created uncertainty within the squad, Guimaraes has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the Magpies.
Since arriving in 2022, he has been a driving force in Newcastle’s transformation, from relegation battles to Champions League qualification and Newcastle lifting the Carabao Cup.
His latest post was interpreted as both a show of pride and a subtle, pointed response.

Even if Isak remains at St James’ Park, the club are still working on signing another striker following Callum Wilson’s departure earlier this summer.
The Magpies continue to monitor Jorgen Strand Larsen, though Wolves are confident of keeping the Norwegian forward.
Howe has reportedly spoken with some of Strand Larsen’s former coaches to better understand his character, as the club remain determined to bring in another centre-forward regardless of how Isak’s situation unfolds.
