Things are moving quickly for Liverpool as the summer transfer window prepares to officially open.
With the arrival of the Club World Cup in June, teams are able to buy and sell players a little earlier than usual.
Although they will not play in the tournament, this has already impacted Liverpool.
News broke on Friday that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid when the window opens on Sunday.
Given the toxicity of Alexander-Arnold’s long drawn out departure, fans will be more concerned with players who actually want to play for Liverpool.
One of those, and a big one at that, is Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who has turned down the advances of Bayern Munich in order to join the Reds this summer.
Liverpool and Leverkusen are negotiating for Wirtz, who will become the Reds’ most expensive signing if he arrives.

Liverpool fans will feel a whole lot better about Alexander-Arnold leaving once they can get some new faces of their own through the door.
The Reds are set to announce Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival and the Dutchman looks like being the tip of the iceberg in that regard.

Likely to be the most expensive of the group, Wirtz is also the most exciting for supporters.
And while Wirtz has already outlined a nickname he does not want to be called, Bundesliga commentator Kevin Hatchard has outlined how to correctly give the 22-year-old his proper name.

“Seeing as it looks as though Florian Wirtz is on the road to joining LFC (still lots of work to do, I imagine), worth knowing that his second name is pronounced “Veertz”, as opposed to rhyming with “hurts”,” Hatchard explained on X.
With an official announcement hopefully only days away, it’s time to get practicing.
Although Liverpool fans may be starting to get worried about a lack of movement on Wirtz, journalist Fabrizio Romano has stepped in to reassure them.
Taking to X on Friday morning, Romano explained that with negotiations still ongoing club-to-club, the deal is only ‘a matter of time’ away from being sealed.
“The negotiations between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen continue well with club to club agreement getting closer,” says the transfer expert.
“Liverpool expect it to be matter of time then Wirtz will join the club, as he told Bayer last week about his clear plan to sign for LFC.”
With a second offer confirmed to have arrived from Liverpool later on Friday, Reds fans can start to get excited.
