One former Liverpool coach is holding talks over taking up a coaching role at Burnley, according to the latest reports.
There have been a lot of changes at Liverpool this summer, and many more are still expected.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Vít?zslav Jaroš headline the departures from the first team, while John Heitinga and some backroom staff members have also departed the club.
Arne Slot has already replaced Alexander-Arnold and Jaros with Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi, while Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed last season, is still to join in the coming days.
Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz are still expected to join, while Slot’s backroom staff could welcome former Netherlands international Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who is being considered as Heitinga’s replacement.
Amid the changes at Anfield, some of the former backroom staff members who left the club within the last few months have already found something else to do.
For example, former Jürgen Klopp assistant coach Pep Lijnders has already taken a role at Manchester City, while Liverpool’s first team physiotherapist Steve Lilley has left the club to take up a full-time role with the England men’s team.
Another former Liverpool employee who left the club within the last couple of months is on the verge of becoming Burnley Women’s first-team coach.
According to The Guardian, former Liverpool Women’s coach Matt Beard is reportedly being considered for the Burnley Women’s team job.
“Burnley are in advanced talks with the former Liverpool manager Matt Beard about their women’s team’s head coach role,” the Guardian said.
“It is understood the club are close to a deal with the 47-year-old in what would be a big statement of intent from the third-tier club, who recently announced they will become fully professional next season.”
Liverpool parted ways with Beard in February, following a disappointing run of form that left the team seventh in the Women’s Super League (WSL), nine points clear of relegation but 15 adrift of European qualification.
Although his second spell at the club ended disappointingly, the 47-year-old enjoyed success at Liverpool during his first spell at the club.
He guided Liverpool to back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014?
In his second spell at Liverpool, Beard oversaw promotion to the WSL in 2022 before leaving this season.
