Burnley finally look set to part ways with Mike Tresor, with bids incoming for the winger.

The Belgian joined the Clarets on loan from Genk in the summer of 2023, fresh from a season in which he registered eight goals and 24 assists in 42 appearances to help the Blue-White finish second in the league and reach the Croky Cup quarter-finals.

Tresor failed to score or assist during his loan spell at Turf Moor, but still saw his move made permanent last summer.

Things have gotten even worse for the winger since then, however, with Tresor making just one 33-minute cameo against Reading in the FA Cup throughout the whole of last season — providing an assist in a 3-1 extra-time win.

Injuries and health-related issues have been behind Tresor’s struggles with Burnley, and although he did play a role in pre-season, Scott Parker left the forward out of his squad for the 3-0 defeat to Spurs on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Recent reports suggested Espanyol were lining up a move for Tresor.

However, according to Burnley Express, that is wide of the mark.

Even so, their report states that Tresor is ‘expected’ to leave Turf Moor before the end of the transfer window, with it becoming clear that the 26-year-old has no place in Parker’s plans.

One winger who does look set to swap Burnley for Espanyol, however, is Luca Koleosho.

The Italy youth international — who is also eligible for the United States and Canada — caught the eye with some exciting performances during the first half of the 2023/24 campaign before a serious knee injury derailed his progress.

Koleosho returned to score two goals in 28 Championship appearances last season, but is yet to rediscover his best form.

Espanyol are in the process of being taken over by Burnley chairman Alan Pace, with the two sides about to become sister clubs.

Koleosho was signed from Espanyol in 2023 but now looks set to return to the Catalan club on loan.

“Mainly selection.

We’ll see how that pans out over the coming week,” Scott Parker responded when asked why Tresor and Koleosho had been left out of his squad in North London on Saturday.

Burnley face Sunderland (H), Man United (A) and Liverpool (H) in their next three Premier League matches, with more reinforcements surely targeted after their tough opening day against Tottenham.

The Clarets are among the favourites to go down this season, especially after losing goalkeeper James Trafford to Man City.
