The outpouring of support from the footballing world following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota has been nothing short of heart-warming.

Jota was supposed to return this season following a spell on the sidelines through injury after contributing to the Premier League-winning season.

Unfortunately, the lad from Portugal was taken away far too soon at the age of 28 alongside his brother Andre Silva.

Since this devastating loss, Liverpool and other clubs around the world have celebrated the life of such a beloved figure in their own special ways to remember the Portuguese striker.

Home and away Reds supporters have broken into a round of applause in the 20th minute of each game as they sing the song about the player who wore the No.

20.

His national team, Portugal, in their 3-2 win against Hungary during the international break, gave a round of applause in memory of a forward who will be fondly remembered in his home nation.

Before the game against Burnley at Turf Moor, the Clarets made a tribute of their own, which may have gone unnoticed by fans who did not travel down for the away day.

In their matchday programme, they put the name and number of the star in the squad list for Liverpool, which was highlighted in green between Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike.

Liverpool have already retired his shirt number across all levels of football at the club, and introduced the ‘Forever 20’ emblem on the inside of club shirts as a way to remember the beloved striker.

The touch of class from Burnley was a welcome surprise, and it showed just how, in times of sadness, the world of football can come together to support one another in their own unique ways.

Players have also made their own tributes during the season, with many of the squad taking the opportunity to use a trademark Jota celebration after scoring a goal.

One thing many fans will remember about the Portuguese man is his love for gaming and especially the FIFA series, where he was one of the top players in the world.

So it is no wonder that many of the tributes left outside of Anfield after his tragic passing were video game controllers from fans who remember his passion.

Most recently, Luis Diaz, who is now at Bayern Munich, received a special custom controller that featured the club emblem and the name of his former teammate.

Diaz could not control his smile when he saw the ‘Diogo J.’ name printed on the back of the custom pad.

The tributes still pour in each week, and fans will be paying their respects once the tributes that were left outside the ground are recycled into a lasting memorial to remember Jota and his brother Andre.
