Caoimhin Kelleher has completed his transfer from Liverpool to Brentford for a fee that could rise to £18million, netting his old amateur club a game-changing fortune in the process.

Goalkeeper Kelleher, the most dependable understudy in the Premier League over the past few seasons, has been eyeing the Anfield exit door as he seeks to prove himself as a No.1.

Kelleher made 10 Premier League appearances for the Reds in each of the last two seasons, earning a winners' medal for the successful 2024-25 campaign.

He also has two Carabao Cup winners' medals to his name, and impressed in Wembley finals against Chelsea in 2022 and 2024, keeping clean sheets in both matches and memorably scoring a penalty in the shootout that decided the 2022 final.

.

The 26-year-old hasn't been shy to admit that he wants to move on and establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere though, and the writing appeared on the wall for his Anfield career when the Reds agreed a deal for Georgia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili last summer.

Mamardashvili will link up with the new Premier League champions next season, with Kelleher joining his former Anfield team-mates Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho in west London, where Thomas Frank's side - who have sold Mark Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen - will be embarking upon their fifth campaign in the Premier League next season after an impressive 10th place finish in the 2024-25 campaign.

Brentford's director of football Phil Giles said: “I am very pleased to welcome Caoimhín to Brentford.

Caoimhin Kelleher celebrates Liverpool's Premier League success with Conor Bradley.

First-team goalkeeper coach Manu Sotelo added: “Caoimhin is a young keeper full of talent who has already proven how he can perform in the Premier league as well as Europe.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.
