SPURS ARE CRUISING!

From a corner, Dejan Kulusevski receives possession on the right and rolls a pass to Pape Matar Sarr.

The central midfielder takes aim from distance.

He hits a curling strike that dips and flashes beyond Stefan Ortega, who was unsighted by his teammates.

This is turning into a very good evening for Ange Postecoglou.

The Seagulls should be level!

Tariq Lamptey comes down the right and delivers a deep cross to the far post.

Simon Adingra is there and heads the ball back across goal to where it came from.

It looks like he's found the bottom corner, but Vitezslav Jaros pulls off a miraculous save.

Moments later, Evan Ferguson is played in, but he blasts over from close range.

ARNE SLOT'S TEAM TALK HAS WORKED!

45 seconds into the second half, and Liverpool have the lead over Brighton.

The ball is played down the left for the Dutchman.

He cuts inside and unleashes a ridiculous strike that is past Jason Steele before he can even smell it.

Oh, this doesn't look good at all.

Micky van de Ven has had to be withdrawn for Tottenham.

The rapid Dutchman is in pain as he leaves the pitch to be replaced by Destiny Udogie.

Ange Postecoglou and all who support Tottenham will hope that is nothing serious, but it looks to be his hamstring.

So, since we last visited Old Trafford, there have been four goals.

Manchester United are currently beating Leicester 4-1, and the home fans are loving what they are seeing.

Alejandro Garnacho got on the end of Diogo Dalot's cross to make it 2-0.

Bilal El Khannous then pulled one back with a lovely low shot off the inside of the post.

But six minutes later, it was 4-1 as Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro scored.

In fact, Casemiro should have a hat-trick, given he's just missed a free header.

THE GOAL DROUGHT IS OVER!

After 18 games, Timo Werner finally has a goal!

Dejan Kulusevski dances down the right and drives a right-footed cross into the box.

Werner allows the ball to reach his right foot, and he opens his body to bend a shot beyond Stefan Ortega.

That's the end of the first 45 minutes at the Amex, and it's all square.

It's been a very even game, but the Seagulls have arguably had the better of the chances.

Both managers have plenty of options on the bench, so expect to see some of the extreme talent coming on in the second half.

We are underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and there has been a late change to the City side.

Manuel Akanji has a calf injury, so he's out.

Ruben Dias takes his place.

Out of nowhere, we've suddenly had a flurry of goals.

Newcastle United are 2-0 up over Chelsea.

Sandro Tonali nicked the ball off Enzo Fernandez on the edge of the box, and the tackle ran perfectly for Alexander Isak, who tucked the ball home.

The Toon soon doubled their lead through a quick free-kick.

Isak delivered a ball into the box that Joe Willock flicked on, and Axel Disasi bundled it beyond his own goalkeeper.

Arsenal have the lead over Preston thanks to a Gabriel Jesus volley.

And that man Jhon Duran has scored again, so Villa are back to 1-1 against Crystal Palace.

Bad news for Crystal Palace as Eberechi Eze can't continue.

The Eagles' star man opened the scoring with a brilliant flashing header, but he's suffered some form of injury and has been withdrawn.

Daichi Kamada is on for Eze.

Meanwhile, the Eagles should have doubled their lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, but he headed over.

WHAT A GOAL!

Alejandro Garnacho receives possession down the left and dances inside.

He rolls a pass into Bruno Fernandes, who dummies it for Casemiro.

The defensive midfielder takes a touch, looks up and bends a stunning strike into the top corner.

That is a stunning strike, and Ruud van Nistelrooy enjoyed that one.

WE HAVE A FIRST GOAL OF THE NIGHT!

The hosts came close through Leon Bailey, but Palace hit the front.

Adam Wharton tries to tease a ball in behind the Villa defence, but it's headed away as far as Daniel Munoz.

The right-wing-back charges down the wing and picks out Eberechi Eze.

The England international connects with an excellent header that he arrows into the bottom corner.

Vitezslav Jaros saves Liverpool!

It's a lovely move by Brighton, who work the ball through the middle of the pitch.

It's rolled into Tariq Lamptey, who pops up from right-back, he advances into the box.

He is in one-on-one, but the Liverpool third-choice goalkeeper spreads himself well and makes a good block.

Right, the 7:45pm games are now underway.

Newcastle have already hit the post through Joelinton.

Alexander Isak picked him out in the box with a stunning cross.

It was begging to be put away, but Joelinton hit the post from around six yards.

Nothing of note has happened in the other matches.

Of course, we have Tottenham vs Manchester City this evening as well.

It's a massive game for both clubs, with the chance to knock out a trophy rival on the line.

Ange Postecoglou has made bold claims about winning something with Spurs this season, so he's named a strong team.

From the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend, there are five changes.

Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin, Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur and Timo Werner are into the XI.

For City, there is no place in the side for Erling Haaland, Ederson or Bernardo Silva.

Phil Foden leads the line as a false number nine as Nico O'Reilly and James McAtee start.

Tottenham: Vicario, Gray, Romero, Dragusin, Van de Ven, Sarr, Bentancur, Kulusevski, Johnson, Werner, Solanke

Man City: Ortega, Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Ake, Gundogan, Savinho, McAtee, O'Reilly, Nunes, Foden

Ruud van Nistelrooy will undertake Manchester United's pre-match media duties on Thursday ahead of this weekend's game against Chelsea as the club continue talks to hire Ruben Amorim.

Former Red Devils striker Van Nistelrooy is in temporary charge while United continue to negotiate with Sporting Lisbon for the services of head coach Amorim.

The Dutchman, at the helm for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup clash with Leicester at Old Trafford, live on talkSPORT 2, may still be in charge for Sunday's Premier League match.

Sporting announced on Tuesday that United have agreed to pay the £8.3million release clause in Amorim's contract.

But reports in Portugal claim the talks are now focused on which members of his backroom staff the 39-year-old will want to take with him to Manchester.

There is also reportedly a 30-day notice period in Amorim's contract which needs to be negotiated.

The United hierarchy moved quickly to land their top target after sacking Erik ten Hag in the wake of Sunday's 2-1 defeat at West Ham.

It was United's fourth defeat in nine Premier League matches this season and left them 14th in the table.

Ahead of Manchester United's Carabao Cup tie against Leicester this evening, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has penned some programme notes.

The ex-United striker was brought back to Old Trafford in the summer by Erik ten Hag to work with is fellow Dutchman as an assistant.

However, Ten Hag is gone, and Ruben Amorim is in line to be his permanent replacement.

But for now, Van Nistelrooy takes the team, and he's paid tribute to Ten Hag.

Writing in the programme, he said: "As I am sure everyone can imagine, I am writing these notes with a huge amount of mixed emotions.

"Erik ten Hag brought me to Manchester United in the summer, and while I have only been part of the coaching staff for a few months, I will always be grateful to him for giving me the opportunity, and I am saddened to see him leave."

talkSPORT understands that Manchester United's pursuit of Ruben Amorim risks being drawn out.

This is because Sporting want their boss to stay in Portugal until the November international break before then allowing him to head to Old Trafford.

Amorim himself wants Friday's game CF Estrela da Amadora to be his last.

However, he wants to be respectful to his current club and could wait.

Sporting are due to play Manchester City in the Champions League next week, and it seems Amorim will be in charge for that one, meaning he'll face Pep Guardiola this season as Sporting boss and Man United gaffer.

The Red Devils are continuing to negotiate with Amorim's club in order to find a solution to a strange situation.

It's a huge night in the Carabao Cup this evening as the round of 16 comes to an end.

There are some great fixtures, and we will lose three of Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Brighton.

Elsewhere, Ruud van Nistelrooy takes temporary charge of Manchester United against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has stayed on to fill the role as interim manager after his fellow countryman was sacked on Monday.

The Red Devils have agreed a deal for Ruben Amorim to join, but the Sporting are insisting that he remain with the Portuguese giants until the November international break.

So, Van Nistelrooy could be in charge for quite some time.

Arsenal and Aston Villa are also in action as well.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge of Manchester United as they take on Leicester in the Carabao Cup tonight, live on talkSPORT 2.

"Erik ten Hag brought me back to Manchester United in the summer and, while I have only been part of the coaching staff here for a few months, I will always be grateful to him for giving me the opportunity, and I am saddened to see him leave.

“Even on an interim basis, it is a great honour to manage the club I love for however long I am asked to do so.

"From my experiences as both a player and a coach here, I can say for sure that when players, staff and supporters pull together, Manchester United can be unstoppable.

"When I returned in the summer as Erik’s assistant, it was because I believe that Manchester United can climb back to the levels that I knew here as a player.
