Liverpool have officially announced the signing of 17-year-old centre-back Carter Pinnington to his first professional contract, marking the culmination of a breakthrough season for the young talent.
Hailing from Wirral, Pinnington has been a part of the club since the U7 level and commenced this season as a first-year scholar.
Following his debut for the U18s last year as an U16 player, the promising centre-back has predominantly featured for Barry Lewtas’ U21s throughout the 2023-24 campaign.
Notably, he played a key role in Liverpool’s journey in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, featuring in every game as the Reds progressed to the knockout stages for the first time.
Additionally, Pinnington was part of the FA Youth Cup team that advanced to the quarter-finals, further showcasing his potential and contribution to the club’s youth setup.
Pinnington has made a significant impact for the U21s this season, featuring in 22 matches with 19 starts to his name.
Remarkably, he made his debut at the U21 level last season at the age of just 15, highlighting his exceptional talent and early development within the Liverpool youth setup.
Pinnington’s versatility extends beyond his role as a centre-back, as he is also capable of performing effectively as a holding midfielder.
