Celtic and Rangers have joined a host of clubs from Scottish football to pay tribute to Diogo Jota following his tragic passing.

The Liverpool attacker and his brother died in the early hours of Thursday morning in a car accident in Spain.

The news has rocked the footballing world with tributes pouring in from across the globe from big names in the game like Jamie Carragher, Cristiano Ronaldo, and so many more.



Football clubs across Europe, including his former clubs Liverpool, Wolves and Porto are also in mourning as are the Portuguese national team.



Leading clubs from Scotland have sent their condolences to Liverpool and the family and friends of Diogo and his brother.

Celtic wrote: "Everyone at Celtic Football Club sends our deepest condolences to Diogo Jota’s family and friends, following the tragic passing of Diogo and his brother.

Our thoughts are also with his colleagues at Liverpool Football Club during this incredibly difficult time.

Motherwell posted: "Everyone at Motherwell Football Club sends our heartfelt condolences to Diogo and Andre's family, friends and loved ones.

Our thoughts are also with everyone connected to Liverpool Football Club during this sad time RIP."

Aberdeen said: "Aberdeen Football Club sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Diogo Jota and Andrè Silva, and everyone connected to Liverpool FC, following today's heartbreaking news.

RIP."

Hibs responded to Liverpool's post online writing: "Everyone at Hibernian FC sends their deepest condolences to Diogo’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

Dundee replied: "Everyone at Dundee FC’s thoughts are with Diogo’s family, friends, and Liverpool FC at this horrible time."

While Ross County said: "Everyone at Ross County FC is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Diogo Jota.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, his teammates, and everyone at Liverpool Football Club during this incredibly difficult time."
