They sold him for £11m just 18 months after paying a nominal compensation fee to Manchester City for his services, and are set to bank a further £6.5m from a sell-on clause when he seals a £30m move to Anfield this weekend.
That will take Celtic's overall profit on the right-back to £17m and, according to the Daily Mail, it will be officially confirmed on Sunday June 1 when the transfer window opens.
It's not as if Celtic are short of a few quid but the £6.5m boost will undoubtedly aid Rodgers' cause as he looks to freshen up his squad this summer.
One area where he needs reinforcements is out wide, particularly if Daizen Maeda continues his effective transition into a centre-forward position.
It's hoped Jota will kick on and rediscover his previous form while Nicolas Kuhn remains an important player despite his dramatic fall-off in the second half of last season.
But beyond that it's only Yang, who hasn't consistently convinced, and an ageing James Forrest who is entering the final year on his contract, available on the flanks.

And Voetbal Primeur say a fee of around £6m will be required to lure him away from the Belgian club.
Were Celtic to move for him in the early stages of the summer window then the investment would effectively be covered by the bonus sell-on payout from Frimpong's move to Anfield.
Balikwisha had his injury issues last season but finished with a consistent run of 10 starts in which he scored four and assisted three, primarily from the left wing.
