Celtic's hopes of banking £3.5million for Luis Palma have reportedly slipped away – but Liverpool's intensified interest in Jeremie Frimpong could blow any shortfall out of the water.
The Honduran winger has been on loan at Olympiacos and the Greek side hold an option to make it permanent.
Palma has only managed two starts however and it appears his involvement in their title-winning celebrations were a farewell of sorts for the 25-year-old.
Athens club and Olympiacos are unwilling to meet his £3.5m clause and reports in Greece have stated that they have now informed Celtic he will be returning to Glasgow when his loan deal expires after the Greek Cup Final against OFI Crete later this month.
Olympiacos boss Jose Luis Mendilibar has used the Honduran international sparingly and he now faces an uncertain future on his return.
He said last month: "I have already made my decisions about the players who will stay and who will go at the end of the season.
And it will be very difficult for them to change my mind in the remaining games of the season."

Palma still has three years left of his deal at Parkhead.

But it's looking good where Frimpong is concerned.
That's because Liverpool, who are losing Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, are set to revamp their full-back areas and see the Bayer Leverkusen wing-back as their main man.
Frimpong joined Leverkusen in an £11m deal from the Hoops who are set to bank 30 per cent of the profit on any sale.
With Frimpong's release clause set at £34m, that would see Celtic bank just short of £7m if he goes for maximum value.
Reports down south suggest Liverpool want Frimpong and Juventus' Andre Cambiaso on either side of their defence next season – with left-back Kostas Tsimikas also set to leave.
What that means for Andy Robertson's future is also uncertain.
And there's good news where Kasper Schmeichel is concerned as reports suggest he could make his return in time for the Scottish Cup final.
The keeper has been missing in action since picking up an injury on Denmark duty back in March with deputy Viljami Sinisalo stepping into the breach for their last six games – including the semi-final win over St Johnstone.

But the Scottish Sun report that he's on track to be back for the Hampden showpiece later this month with Celtic giving him every chance to make it.
