Celtic could complete the signing of Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic on a loan-to-buy deal within the next couple of days.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of the 20-year-old and is the driving force behind Celtic’s interest in a deal.
The boss had been keen to bring players in before their season opener against St Mirren on 3 August and deals are expected to accelerate in the near future.
Football Insider revealed in August 2024 that Liverpool were inundated with offers for Bajcetic, before he spent last season on loan at RB Salzburg and later Las Palmas.
Interest in his signature is not believed to have died down after his two loan spells, where he gained vital experience and is now prepared to take on a new challenge.
Liverpool are open to letting him leave either permanently or on loan, with a loan-to-buy deal most likely at this stage as they aim to raise pure profit from his sale.

This article contains exclusive comment from Paul Robinson, a football pundit and former England, Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper.
Football Insider revealed on 22 July that Celtic want to sign a new central midfielder as Rodgers aims to improve the spine of his team in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot is believed to be keen for Bajcetic to leave Anfield on loan again as he is unlikely to break into his first-team plans this season.
Robinson explained that Celtic view his signing as an achievable deal and could look to finalise terms in “the next couple of days”.
“Brendan Rodgers needs players in before the start of the season,” he told Football Insider.
“Bajcetic would be a great fit, players on the fringes at Liverpool are finding it increasingly difficult to break into that starting XI and first-team squad.
“He’s had a couple of decent loans at Las Palmas where he got experience and RB Salzburg as well last year, he’s had some decent experience on loan.
“For Celtic, he’s a player that ticks a lot of boxes for them.
“And for Brendan Rodgers, it would be a player who bolsters his squad and starting XI.
“He’s coming towards the end of his contract at Liverpool and as an academy player a permanent move would all be profit.
“With Arne Slot allowing him to go out on loan like he did last year, this is a deal that could be done.
“Whether it’s Celtic or somewhere else, Brendan Rodgers is keen on the player, it’s a deal that’s more than achievable, and they can get a deal done in the next couple of days.”

While Rodgers is aiming to improve his squad this summer, speculation has grown surrounding the future of star man Daizen Maeda in recent weeks.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 31 July that Brentford are leading the race to sign Maeda despite lingering interest from Tottenham.
Talks over a potential new contract at Celtic have stalled in recent weeks and clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 28 July that Maeda has had his head turned by Premier League interest and is unwilling to commit to a new deal.
