Celtic have been urged to reignite their interest in Jamie Vardy following the latest blow in their pursuit of a new striker.
The Hoops scored a massive 112 goals en route to the Scottish Premiership title last season — 32 more than Rangers and a key factor in the 17-point gap between the two sides.
However, it was Rangers who boasted the league’s top scorer, with Cyriel Dessers scoring 18 times.
What’s more, Celtic goalscoring winger Daizen Maeda is attracting interest from the Premier League following a 33-goal season across all competitions in 2024/25.

Vardy has been heavily linked with both Old Firm giants this summer after leaving Leicester City as a free agent.
Despite being 38 years old, Vardy comes off a season in which he scored 10 goals for the Foxes across all competitions, including nine in the Premier League — even as Leicester were relegated.
Former England international Nigel Martyn believes reuniting with former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead could be the best move for Vardy, backing him to wreak havoc on the Scottish top flight.

“I have no doubt that Jamie Vardy will be a threat to anyone up in Scotland if he joins Celtic.
He can start games one week and play up to 60 minutes, and the next week he could come off the bench and make an impact.
“As a centre-half, the last thing you want to see after playing 70 minutes is somebody like Jamie Vardy and his pace come on to the pitch.”

At this point, Vardy might be the best move for Celtic, who look set to miss out on Italian talent Giuseppe Ambrosino.
The Italy youth international spent last season on loan at Frosinone, registering five goals and four assists in 36 Serie B appearances.
Ambrosino also boasts an impressive record of 29 goals in 61 games across various youth levels for Napoli.
The 21-year-old’s Napoli contract is set to expire next month, fuelling rumours of a move to Celtic.
They need to be convinced.”
