The transfer window continues to throw up surprises.
Many areas of the squad are undergoing change in the Liverpool squad this summer.
However, the core remains intact.
Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will all be staying on at Anfield, but the same can’t be said for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has moved onto Real Madrid.
Long-term servant and brilliant deputy to Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher chose this summer to leave Liverpool after a 10-year spell at the club, finally grabbing the opportunity to be a No.1 elsewhere.
That leaves a hole, that has been swiftly filled by the incoming Giorgi Mamadarshvili from Valencia.
Seen as Alisson’s successor the Georgian goalkeeper will begin life at Liverpool as the club’s second choice, with a bigger aim of becoming No.1 in the future.
However, for now that spot is locked down by Alisson Becker, one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a vital part of Liverpool’s success in recent years.
Alisson’s current contract with the club expires in 2027, but he has recently come out and expressed his immediate desire to stay at Liverpool but has also confirmed his wish to return to Brazil to see out his career when he feels the time is right to depart England.
He said: “I talk to athletes who have made this move to return, some have had good experiences, others not.”
“Each one will have their own experience, but I want to return, especially to Inter.
That’s what I have planned.”
Goalkeepers tend to have a longer career at the top level, due to the nature of their position, so Alisson has many years left in him yet.
But, with the possibility of Alisson’s contract running down, clubs have begun to circle, seeing the opportunity to strike a deal for the Brazilian.
Florian Plettenberg for Sky Germany has revealed that Turkish side Galatasaray are still actively searching for a top goalkeeper and Alisson is on their radar.
It has been confirmed by Plettenberg that they made a concrete enquiry to Liverpool a few weeks ago about Alisson Becker.
However, Alisson has reportedly declined the offer and wishes to stay at Liverpool.
Alisson sees his immediate future at Liverpool and that will ease the minds of everyone connected to Liverpool because such talent should remain at the club for as long as possible.
The 32-year-old will begin another season soon as Liverpool’s No.1.
