Morgan Rogers has developed into one of the Premier League’s very best players and is highly sought after.
James Maddison posted an injury update on Thursday (18 September), but given the Englishman’s long-term battles to stay fit, a player like Morgan Rogers would be an amazing acquisition for Tottenham if they could get it done.
Yves Bissouma could leave the club in the January transfer window as he too works to return from injury.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are always actively scouring the transfer window and will battle Tottenham for Rogers, with it now being revealed what it would take to sign Aston Villa‘s prized asset.

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa were “under siege” in the summer as many clubs were keen to sign Rogers.
“Many bids and enquiries” were received, although they “never saw the light of day.” Rogers was pursued by Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham while an unnamed club from the traditional Premier League big six was also keen.
Villa’s determination to keep Rogers was underlined by their hardline stance that he could only leave if a bid of over £80million was received.
Officially, there were no offers, and the player did not push to leave either.

14 goals and 16 assists last season arguably makes Rogers one of the very best already, but at 23, he still has plenty of development to go through before he reaches maturity.
Indeed, if Florian Wirtz is worth £100m after his incredible form in the Bundesliga, it’s a surprise that Villa haven’t set Rogers’ price closer to that figure.

The season before last, Rogers recorded 10 goals and 10 assists, so it’s not as though his form last season was an anomaly either.
The 2025-26 season will no doubt see more wondrous performances from the Englishman, but Aston Villa fans may increasingly feel as though they are watching his last season.
Rogers is yet to register a goal or assist this season but Villa are struggling as a collective, so it’s not just the English midfielder who is battling.
