Liverpool's plans for the summer transfer window could be impacted by a piece of business conducted by Chelsea.

One player who could be set to leave Liverpool this summer is Harvey Elliott.

The Athletic have reported that RB Leipzig are showing an interest in signing Elliott this summer, with suggestions of an asking price between £40million and £50million.

Chelsea come into the equation due to Leipzig potentially looking to sign Elliott as a replacement for one of their players who looks set to leave the club.

Xavi Simons' future has been up in the air for several months, and now it seems that the Londoners are closing in on a deal to sign the Netherlands international.

As a result, Chelsea signing Simons could be prompting Leipzig to approach Liverpool over a deal for Elliott.

If the Reds were to sell Elliott to the Bundesliga outfit, it could go on to help fund their other remaining transfer business.

Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

The Reds had a £110million bid rejected last week by Newcastle, with the ECHO understanding that Liverpool are not looking to make a second offer as things stand.

If Elliott was to leave Liverpool, though, it would give them tens of millions of pounds to fund any more transfer business they hope to complete this summer.
