Chelsea supporters are bound to be excited by one of their club legends’ comments on new transfer target Kenan Yildiz.

In the summer of 2024, both Liverpool and Arsenal kept tabs on Yildiz, but 12 months later, the 20-year-old forward is still lighting up Serie A as one of Juventus’ most important players.

Now, Football Insider understands that Chelsea want Yildiz’s signature ahead of the winter transfer window, though the Blues face an uphill battle after having a £70million bid rejected in the summer.

With four goals and four assists in his opening seven appearances for the Italian giants, it is obvious why so many clubs are taking notice of the Turkish international.

Zola is one of the most talented forwards to feature at Stamford Bridge, alongside the likes of Didier Drogba, Jimmy Greaves, and Eden Hazard, so these are very exciting comments from the player himself.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb back in April, the former Chelsea star said: “There are players who have my characteristics, but today’s football is very different from the one I played.

“Let’s give an example: Yildiz of Juventus is a footballer who has qualities similar to mine, but he is not the only one,” before going on to talk about Nottingham Forest‘s Dan Ndoye.

Having won two FA Cups, the FWA Footballer of the Year, and multiple European titles, this kind of praise should not be skipped over, especially when it comes to a player worth over £70m.

During the Club World Cup, Yildiz scored a brace in a 4-1 win over Wydad Casablanca.

In the manager’s post-match press conference, he said that “Yildiz cannot be touched” [Eurosport].

Juventus have struggled over the last few seasons, rarely reaching the same heights from a decade ago, when they were dominant in Serie A, while also making a splash in Europe.

Currently, the Old Lady are second in Serie A, behind Napoli only on goal difference, and many of the supporters will be hoping to hold onto their best talents for a blockbuster season in Italy.

Chelsea have an incredibly difficult battle to fight if they are to land his signature, either in winter or next summer, but if Todd Boehly has shown anything, he is willing to spend a lot of cash when needed.
