Liverpool’s preparations are now underway as they begin to look ahead to next season’s Premier League title defence, which commences next month.
The Reds are still mourning the death of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva?
Tributes were paid to Jota throughout Sunday’s friendly win over Preston.
Goals from Conor Bradley, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo secured a comfortable victory for the Premier League champions as Nunez and Gakpo pulled out their former teammate’s iconic celebrations during the game.
Up next for the Reds is an Asia tour as Arne Slot’s side look to step things up this summer.
This could also see more new signings arriving, with several big names still being linked with a move to Anfield.
Liverpool have already brought in Freddie Woodman, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Armin Pecsi.
The futures of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott are still uncertain and could all follow Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, and Nat Phillips out the door this summer.
However, the Reds have shown no sign of slowing down this summer transfer window, with Marc Guehi still heavily linked and others facing uncertain futures.
According to L’Équipe, Liverpool are monitoring Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku’s situation.
The Blues have a valuation set at £35m for the 27-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Nkunku moved to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig for £52m in 2023, but he has failed to make an impact.
Last season, he started in only nine out of 27 games, however, he did well in the Conference League, scoring five goals and providing three assists as Chelsea saw off Real Betis in the final to clinch the title.
Nkunku is reportedly pushing to leave Chelsea this summer.
He was a part of the Chelsea squad that won the Club World Cup in the United States on Sunday, beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0, but Nkunku does not feature prominently in Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans ahead of next season.
