Liverpool’s latest transfer has reportedly infuriated their counterparts at Stamford Bridge.
The Reds and Chelsea went head-to-head for the signature of highly-rated English attacker Rio Ngumoha.
While the Blues were desperate to keep the 16-year-old, Liverpool wanted to bring him to Anfield.
And in the end, it was the Reds who won the race for Ngumoha, completing the signing of the youngster on Wednesday.
However, according to Liverpool Echo’s Keifer MacDonald, Chelsea are furious about how Liverpool have managed to sign Rio Ngumoha for cheap.
Chelsea offered the 16-year-old scholarship, but he rejected it after being impressed with Liverpool’s proposal.
Given that he rejected Chelsea’s scholarship offer, the Blues will be entitled to a compensation fee from Liverpool.
However, for a player of his talent, that fee is very small and Chelsea are believed to be furious that Liverpool are paying so little for the player.
The report also squashed the claims that Liverpoo broke their academy wage structure to land the winger.
Ngumoha, who has drawn comparison with former Chelsea academy player Jamal Musiala, is expected to join the Reds U18 squad this season.
The 16-year-old is a player that has already trained with Chelsea’s first team despite his tender age?
So it won’t be surprising if he drafted into the first team in no distant time.
After completing the deal to Liverpool, the 16-year-old took to Instagram to send a thank-you message to the Chelsea academy.
