Unai Emery is set to oversee a major change at Aston Villa as the West Midlands club eye Marco Asensio’s return.
Asensio impressed at Villa Park last season by notching eight goals and one assist in 21 appearances on loan from PSG.
The Spain international’s exploits helped Aston Villa reach the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Jacob Ramsey could join Newcastle as Emery refreshes his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Amid Emery’s efforts to build a squad who can enjoy another successful Premier League season, Chelsea are keen on Morgan Rogers.
The attacking midfielder was arguably Aston Villa’s best player last term, scoring 14 goals and producing 13 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph’s John Percy revealed via X on Tuesday, 12 August: “AVFC are exploring a deal to re-sign Marco Asensio.

“PSG forward has one year remaining on his contract and either a permanent or loan deal is an option for Villa before the deadline.”
If the West Midlands club acquire Asensio, it could allow Chelsea to make their swoop for Rogers before the transfer window closes.

As Enzo Maresca looks to apply the finishing touches to the Conference League winners and Club World Cup champions, Chelsea are interested in Xavi Simons.
The West Londoners’ advances for both Rogers and Simons show that Maresca is eager to add another attacking midfielder to his ranks.
Simons has proven his talent by notching 11 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances for RB Leipzig last season.

However, unlike Rogers, the Netherlands star does not boast Premier League experience, while Chelsea are vying to launch a serious title challenge.
The Stamford Bridge outfit should sign the Aston Villa man, who has consistently shown his class in the English top flight in the West Midlands.
Furthermore, Rogers could be an even better player when surrounded by some of the Premier League’s most talented assets, such as Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.
A move to West London would see the 23-year-old link up with fellow Manchester City academy graduates Palmer and Liam Delap.
