Liverpool’s 2025 transfer window has been nothing short of sensational, with the Premier League champions completely rewriting their approach to the market in ways that have left even seasoned supporters scratching their heads in disbelief.
After years of restrained spending that often frustrated fans, FSG’s summer splurge has reached unprecedented levels.
The Reds have already committed £194.5 million to new signings, making this their biggest-ever transfer window by some distance.
This figure includes club-record signing Florian Wirtz (£116m), Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m), Milos Kerkez (£40m), and Giorgi Mamardashvili (£25m).
Meanwhile, when Ekitike’s full £79 million package is included, Liverpool’s summer window outlay reaches approximately £273.5 million.
But naturally, it can’t always be 100% positive news on the transfer front.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea has now opened “official” lines of communication to sign Ajax defender Jorell Hato this summer.
Taking to X, the Italian transfer journalist reported that the teenage sensation is Chelsea’s next priority in the market.
He adds that the Dutch international is open to the Stamford Bridge move:
“Chelsea have now made official club to club contact with Ajax for Jorrel Hato as next top priority!”
“Hato, understood to be keen on the move and already prepared to accept personal terms at CFC,” wrote Romano.
“Negotiations ongoing with very good relationship between clubs.”
Romano also previously confirmed that Hato features on Liverpool’s shortlist alongside Chelsea as both clubs looks to reinforce both its central and left-back options this summer.
Hato’s visit to Anfield in January – initially touted as a precursor to formal transfer talks – was actually just a friendly invitation from compatriot Ryan Gravenberch.
Hato featured in 31 Eredivisie matches this season, contributing two goals and six assists, while helping Ajax keep 13 clean sheets.
