Liverpool title rivals Chelsea have suffered yet another injury setback as they try to keep pace with Arne Slot’s men in the early stages of the season.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca has revealed that Cole Palmer is set to be out for at least 2-3 weeks or at until the upcoming October international.

The 23-year-old missed the early matches because of a groin problem sustained in part due to the Club World Cup.

After returning briefly to action in mid-September, Palmer was substituted after just 21 minutes in the Premier League match against Manchester United due to a recurrence of the groin injury.

Now Enzo Maresca have confirmed yet more bad news for the Blues.

Maresca said in his pre-Brighton press conference:

“We decided to protect Cole a little bit, in terms of don’t get worse?

We decide to rest him for the next 2-3 weeks until the international break, just to see if with that rest he can recover to 100%“.
