Chelsea have handed Bayern Munich a huge advantage ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash after a new reveal about Nicolas Jackson’s part to play in his loan side’s preparations.

Jackson joined Bayern Munich on loan from Chelsea late on in the summer window after numerous months of uncertainty around his future at the club.

Chelsea had tried to stop Jackson joining Bayern after Liam Delap suffered a serious hamstring injury against Fulham, but he still made the move and is now preparing to face his parent club in the Champions League.

Jackson does not want to return to Chelsea at the end of the season after he was left angry with how they dealt with the switch, even though his loan move to Bayern only includes an obligation-to-buy if he starts 40 games all term.

He has been settling into his new surroundings ahead of their Champions League clash on Wednesday (17 September), and the Blues’ decision to let him leave may well come back to bite them if they are beaten at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern chief Uli Hoeness recently joked that Jackson will not be able to reach the amount of starts needed for Bayern to be obliged to pay the £56.2million [BBC] fee to secure his permanent signature.

He will surely be started to be proven correct against the Blues on Wednesday, with Harry Kane set to be named in the starting eleven, and it seems highly unlikely that he will reach that number across the whole season behind the Englishman.

Not only will Chelsea regret including such an unachievable target, with the Senegal international not wanting to go back at the end of the season regardless, but they may also see their decision to let him join Bayern come back to bite them this week anyway.

According to German outlet TZ (16 September), Vincent Kompany and his team of coaches have been planning to “take advantage of” the fact that Jackson knows the Blues’ strengths and weaknesses, having literally been training under Maresca a matter of weeks ago, and for a whole season prior to this one.

The fact that he is angry with Chelsea and has no plans to return means that he is likely to give all of their intricacies and secrets away to Bayern, because as far as he is concerned, he is no longer a Chelsea player.

Jackson has cut ties with the West London outfit so clearly in his own head that he nearly referred to them as his former club earlier this week, while his advisor Diomansy Kamara was pretty straightforward when recently asked if he can see his client going back there, replying: “Absolutely not.”

It is clearly very possible that Jackson finds himself back at Stamford Bridge in the summer seeking another move away, especially if his Bayern move does not go to plan and he struggles to score goals regularly.

While he has no plans to play for Chelsea again, it also seems to be the case that they do not foresee a future where he is back in the squad after recently signing new striker competition for the summer.

Chelsea completed the signing of Emmanuel Emegha from sister club Strasbourg last week, but the Frenchman is not set to join up with his Blues teammates until after this campaign ends.

Emegha boasts a great scoring record in Ligue 1, with 14 goals and three assists in 27 appearances last term, and the fact that he will be an option to Maresca from the end of 2025-26 effectively proves that time is also up for Jackson from the Blues’ point of view, as well as his own.
