The Athletic [19 August], report that Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho “remains a priority target,” for Chelsea.

Garnacho would compete with Gittens on the left flank and the 21-year-old only wants to join Chelsea this summer with the club in “active in talks with Man United.”

Chelsea are also in “informal talks with RB Leipzig” about striking a deal for midfielder Xavi Simons.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider Chelsea face competition from Manchester City for Simons, with a £60million valuation on the 22-year-old.

Garnacho only wants to join Chelsea.

Chelsea looked to have run out of ideas to break through the Palace rearguard, and the visitors comfortably left Stamford Bridge with a point.

Garnacho would be a much needed signing for Chelsea, with Gittens still bedding into his new surroundings.

The Argentine winger has been a creative spark for Man United over the past couple of seasons and has been a regular contributor of goals.

Maresca though ultimately still has work to do on the training ground, with many teams set to come to Chelsea and sit deep with the aim of frustrating their hosts.
