Welcome to our media watch piece. Maybe not the first, we've definitelydone transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

FSG to pay £3.6m fine

The six English clubs who signed up to the European Super League in April have been fined a collective £22m by the Premier League, and Liverpool’s owners have agreed to cover their own £3.6m penalty themselves rather than taking any money out of the club.

That money will go towards grassroots football and community-based initiatives as opposed to the other 14 Premier League clubs, and any further breakaway attempts in the future will result in a much heavier £25m fine and a 30-point deduction.

Origi launches scholarship scheme

A great initiative here as Divock Origi announces he has launched a scholarship scheme with the University of Liverpool which will pay full tuition fees and living expenses for two students living in the city.

He said: “I always wanted to give back to the city that gave me so much.

“From a purpose perspective and understanding the position of influence and impact I’m blessed to have, I know the importance of being given an opportunity, while also truly believing in the ability of future generations to achieve greatness.”

Chelsea and PSG in £56.1m transfer tussle

Chelsea have matched Paris Saint-Germain’s £56.1m bid for Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi, as per Sky Sports. The Moroccan wing-back, who scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in Serie A last season after moving from Real Madrid after a hugely successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, is reportedly valued at £66.8m by Inter, so it remains to be seen whether a compromise will be reached with either Chelsea or PSG.

He’s an obvious fit for Thomas Tuchel’s three-at-the-back system, although it’s somewhat intriguing that Chelsea would prioritise spending so much money on Hakimi given they already have a number of excellent options in that position with Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Henderson assists montage

Yesterday marked the 10-year anniversary of Jordan Henderson joining Liverpool, and to mark the occasion the club released a 12-and-a-half minute montage video with all of his 49 assists so far.

It’s a great watch, and a reminder of how much his creative ability has gone under the radar over the years.
