Chris Sutton makes no-nonsense Brendan Rodgers claim amid 'walk away' threat

Due to their transfer window, and failure to qualify for the Champions League, Celtic fans wrote to the board and are threatening to boycott Europa League fixtures.
Amid the rising tensions in Glasgow, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, as per the Daily Record [11 September], believes Rodgers needs to clarify his position as manager.
“I think Rodgers will simply now have to come out and tell everyone if he’s going to be staying or going.

“If he’s going at the end of the season, so be it,” Sutton said.
“We saw it at Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp and it’s happened elsewhere.
It could be that he’s not made his mind up yet, or even that the club wants to go down a different route, which is another matter altogether.

“You look at the muck being thrown around with claims about Rodgers trying to engineer an exit, which wasn’t mentioned in the statement.
“Are they going to stumble on with a manager who doesn’t want to be there and a club that feels the same?
The entire situation just needs resolving, because it sure isn’t going away.
“It’s going to be a cloud hanging over the club all season.”
Rodgers will lead Celtic when they travel to Kilmarnock for their first game after the international break.
Rodgers is not the only person who could leave Celtic soon, with concerns also raised over the future of Daizen Maeda.
Maeda publicly stated he wanted to leave Celtic over the summer, so a January exit looks probable.
Whilst fans want the board to all step down, that looks unlikely as the strong finances at the club mean boycotts are unlikely to do much damage.
Celtic believed qualifying for the Champions League would help their transfer business, but they’ve now been left with a mess that cannot be quickly solved.
The Hoops are in a weaker position that this time last season and if Rodgers does not want to guide Celtic beyond this season then he should let the club and the fans know.
