Celtic have been sent a strong message with just a day left in the transfer window following their 0-0 draw at Rangers.

The first Glasgow derby of the season finished in an uninspiring stalemate, leaving Celtic without a win in four league matches against their rivals.

Celtic remain unbeaten and top of the table alongside Hearts, though new signing Michael-Ange Balikwisha failed to impress against Rangers.

Left out of the matchday squad, striker Adam Idah’s move to Swansea is on the horizon, forcing Brendan Rodgers to star Daizen Maeda up-front.

After the clash finished at Ibrox, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton took to X [31 August] to share his thoughts on proceedings.

Sutton called Rangers “rank” and claimed it was a “big chance missed for Celtic.”

Having not done enough throughout the 90 minutes to earn all three points, Sutton says the next 24 hours are “huge” for Celtic in the transfer market.

Celtic’s performance at Rangers highlighted again the urgent need for attacking reinforcements in the squad.

Rangers have been struggling defensively under Russell Martin, yet Celtic never looked like breaking the deadlock at Ibrox.

Idah’s unavailability as he looks set to move on did not help matters, but it showed the lack of depth in the striker position which needs addressing.
