Chris Wood quiet as 4/10 flops - Nottingham Forest player ratings vs West Ham

Nottingham Forest capitulated late on to fall to an unforgivable 3-0 loss at home to West Ham United.

It was a quiet first half for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who struggled to breakdown a resolute West Ham side.

It was largely the same in the second half with Forest huffing and puffing but failing to penetrate the visitors’ stubborn defensive showing.

However, a late triple from Graham Potter’s side left the City Ground shell-shocked, and now huge questions will be asked during the international break.

Matz Sels – 6

West Ham could easily argue they should have scored twice, and they may have done if not for the smart reflexes of Matz Sels.

However, Sels was part of a defence that capitulated late on, and was unfortunate to concede three but may have felt he could’ve done better at his near post against Bowen’s effort.

Ola Aina – 5

Ola Aina had a quiet game by his standards, struggling to effect the game in the final third from full-back thanks to a resolute performance from the visitors.

Nikola Milenkovic – 5

Nikola Milenkovic was excellent during the first 80 minutes of the match, but the Serbian was part of a backline that threw away three goals in ten minutes, all three of which could have been avoided.

Murillo – 5

Murillo, like Milenkovic, played well until West Ham turned the game on it’s head and all of a sudden the Brazilian looked completely out of his depth as the game stretched late on.

Neco Williams – 5

Neco Williams, like Aina, was kept quiet going forward by Potter’s side, but the Welshman lost his marker, Jarrod Bowen who scored West Ham’s first of the afternoon.

Elliot Anderson – 6

It was a quiet afternoon for Elliot Anderson after his international call-up in the week.

The new England international wasn’t afforded time or space in a crowded midfield and it was a tough afternoon for Anderson who had to defend more than he could attack.

Ibrahim Sangare – 6

Ibrahim Sangare was resolute and defended everything that West Ham sent in the Nottingham Forest box, but it was his clumsy challenge that gave the London club a penalty late on the secure a win for the visitors.

Dan Ndoye – 4

Dan Ndoye has made a scintillating start to his Nottingham Forest career but it wasn’t the Swiss internationals best showing, failing to have an impact on the game.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 6

Morgan Gibbs-White was frustrated by Forest’s attacking play, as the home team weren’t able to breakdown West Ham’s stubborn defensive display.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6

Callum Hudson-Odoi struggled to impact the game, with Kyle Walker-Peters making a formidable opponent to overcome for the ex-Chelsea man.

Chris Wood – 5

It was a quiet afternoon for the New Zealander who wasn’t given a lot of service from his teammates, but even when Forest did breakthrough West Ham’s defences, Wood was nowhere to be seen.

James McAtee (for Ndoye, 58) – 5

James McAtee barely laid a glove on West Ham when he came on, failing to create any chances and being an anonymous figure.

Igor Jesus (for Wood, 73) – 5

Like McAtee, Igor Jesus was ineffective after replacing Wood and the Brazilian, who has struggled to adjust to the Premier League so far this season, hardly had a touch of the ball.

Omari Hutchinson (for Hudson-Odoi, 89) – 5

Omari Hutchinson was thrown into a difficult situation with Forest shell-shocked after West Ham’s quick-fire double, and it is difficult to fault the new signing.

Arnaud Kalimuendo (for Sangare, 89) – 5

Like Hutchinson, it was out of the frying pan and into the fire for Kalimuendo, coming on shortly after West Ham’s second and not long before Wilson secured all three points for the away side, the Frenchman barely had a touch of the ball in his short cameo.
