Manchester City are well stocked in attacking midfield this summer ahead of exit decisions over Phil Foden and Claudio Echeverri.
Pep Guardiola has publicly stated that he wants to reduce the size of his squad this summer after Man City spent £115million on four new signings before the Club World Cup, such as Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
Cherki’s arrival has been followed up by Tijjani Reijnders and Sverre Nypan to add further to Man City’s midfield stocks, and that puts pressure on the likes of Foden, Echeverri and others ahead of next season.
Football Insider has revealed that Jack Grealish, James McAtee and Kalvin Phillips headline the list of players Guardiola wants to move on this summer, as uncertainty looms over the futures of several others.

Cherki, Foden, Echeverri, Omar Marmoush, Nico O’Reilly, Savinho and new skipper Bernardo Silva will all be vying for a starting spot at the Etihad Stadium next season, leaving Guardiola with a decision to make.
Echeverri’s debut only came as a surprise substitute for the last 15 minutes of the FA Cup Final in May, and the Argentinian midfielder has been continually linked with moves away from Man City since then.
Man City have rebuffed approaches for Echeverri from both Roma and Girona this summer, and the 19-year-old’s social media activity suggests he’s staying put.

Football Insider Verdict
Echeverri has been a Man City player for over 18 months after his initial move from River Plate in January 2024, but only joined up with Pep Guardiola’s squad a year later after the conclusion of their season.
The youngster was tipped to act as a potential makeweight in the deal which took Cherki from Lyon to the Etihad, but the Frenchman’s arrival hasn’t seen Echeverri moved on as both compete for a place.
Foden’s own future has also been cast into doubt after a huge drop-off in his performances last season, but as Guardiola’s massive squad reduction continues, expect both the England playmaker and Echeverri to be part of Man City‘s plans.
