Liverpool mean business this summer and there is still time to make some big moves.

The Reds have gone big in the transfer window so far and have certainly laid down a clear marker to the rest of the division as they aim to retain their title next season.

After Hugo Ekitike, they will have spent over £200m and improved their squad massively with some of Europe’s best talents, making them a real force to be reckoned with.

However, they are not done just yet and there are still a few areas of weakness that they have identified for improvement, while sales are also expected.

So far, they have signed every player they have bid for and teams probably hate to see Liverpool coming as they know they are fighting a losing battle to keep their stars, with one club in particular said to be left ‘scared’ by the Reds this summer.

Not that Liverpool have done anything wrong, but teams are probably left intimidated by the Reds if they see them coming in for some of their best players.

This is because they know that they are shrewd operators in the market and Richard Hughes usually gets what he wants, as proven by the business he has conducted thus far.

Despite about to sign Ekitike, there is still a genuine possibility that Alexander Isak ends up at Liverpool, with journalist Lewis Steele believing that Newcastle are scared as they think they might end up losing him.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

“The fact that Newcastle are so keen to push out the fact that they do not want to do a deal and so keen to put out that they want a lot of money, means they are a bit scared,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“I think they are a bit scared of Liverpool as well as Liverpool have the pull power, and I think a lot of it will rest on Alexander Isak.

Does he want to force through a move?

“One thing I do want to say is that if it doesn’t happen this summer, it does not rule it out for next summer, and by that point he will be a year older, and it would suggest his price tag is a lot less than it is now.”

Either way, the speculation surrounding the Swede has certainly rocked the boat a little and perhaps left the player unsettled, suggesting that this story could develop significantly in the coming days.

Based on everything being reported, all the indications suggest that Isak will leave one way or the other, whether that be this summer or the next.

As Steele mentioned, his value will drop a fair bit if they wait as he is only getting older, suggesting they should cash in now and maximise their profit.

This would also be their version of Liverpool’s ‘Coutinho money’ as they would receive close to £150m to reinvest and improve their overall squad with a few additions.

The Reds could also do with more options in attack, especially if they lose Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, and who better than Isak who has been their dream signing for years and has been labelled “incredible” by his current manager?
