The transfer window for Liverpool has been far from quick and efficient, but you can say that for almost any other club around Europe.

The Reds’ main title rivals in Manchester City and Arsenal have likewise not completed any transfers, although the Gunners are reportedly nearing the completion of Riccardo Calafiori.

This slow start to the summer transfer window can be explained by the various summer tournaments scheduled with the Paris Olympics set to get underway at the end of July.

Richard Hughes has already alluded to this and hinted that potential incomings will arrive in August.

Additionally, Arne Slot first needs an opportunity to examine his squad in pre-season before identifying areas he wants to strengthen.

Speaking about transfers to Sky Sports recently, the Dutchman assured fans that transfers will likely be made:

“It’s a collaboration.

When players are coming in it’s much bigger than that – there’s a scouting department, there’s a data department in this club as well.”

“So we will, in the end, find the right players that we feel comfortable with, where we think ‘ok, he could be a real good asset to the team.'”

“One of the reasons I came here as well is because I trust this team that’s already here,” Slot explained.

“They did really well last season but of course we are hoping to improve.”

“The first step is on the training pitch, and another way to improve could be signing players – but the first step right now is to improve the team on the training pitch.”

Many Reds fans believed another centre-back and another No.6 is an urgent priority for the club.

Arne Slot deserves a fair chance to compete at the top of the table next season, and part of giving him that chance involves signing players.

But a big claim from Turkey has emerged regarding Liverpool’s transfer plans.

What was said about a potential Liverpool transfer?

President Sedat Tahiro?lu of Turkish club Ankara Keçiörengücü  has told Turkish media that he believes Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Turkish international Bar?? Alper Yilmaz.

The Ankara club have a 20% sell-on clause for Yilmaz following his 2021 transfer to Galatasaray.

“We have 20% of Bar?? Alper Y?lmaz’s share, but we have not received a request from Galatasaray to meet with us on this issue,” Tahiro?lu said to Aksam.

“I hear that Liverpool want him, Arsenal want him, but I know Nuri Sahin definitely wants it.

He could be sold for around €30m.”

It certainly makes sense that the Ankara president would know of the transfer situation as he is waiting for the 20% sell-on clause.

Y?lmaz has been a standout performer for Galatasaray, playing primarily as a right winger but also demonstrating versatility by covering positions such as left winger and center-forward.

During the 2023/24 season, he contributed significantly to Galatasaray’s success with seven goals and twelve assists across all competitions.

His contributions helped Galatasaray secure a top position in the Süper Lig and perform admirably in the UEFA Champions League
