Liverpool’s victory against Tottenham was not only a triumph for the team but also a proud moment for Cody Gakpo, who dedicated his goal to his newborn son Samuel.
The Reds started the match with a dynamic start and took an early lead through Mohamed Salah, who capitalized on a well-executed clipped pass from Gakpo to the back post.
Liverpool maintained control throughout the first half, with Tottenham offering minimal threat.
They extended their lead when Andy Robertson swiftly reacted to capitalize on Salah’s deflected shot, parried by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Liverpool carried their momentum into the second half, swiftly increasing their lead to three goals as Harvey Elliott’s cross found Gakpo’s precise header.
Elliott’s involvement continued as he orchestrated the fourth goal, a standout moment of the match, with an exquisite finish into the top corner from outside the box.
Although Tottenham briefly threatened a comeback with two goals within five minutes, Liverpool’s defence tightened thereafter, securing a well-deserved three points.
Gakpo, speaking to Sky Sports said: “It was a disappointing few weeks where the results were not what we wanted.
It was a good day.
“Everyone wanted to do their best in the last few weeks but it didn’t work.
“We wanted to enjoy it, play for goals, defend together and it was a good result.
“Everybody is aware of the situation [with Klopp leaving]!
“We wanted to show it for the fans but also for the manager and that’s what we did today.”
On his celebration after scoring against Spurs, the Dutchman said: “It was a good cross, that’s why.
And yeah, I think a good header.
“It was a very good ball and I only had to head it in.
“[Fatherhood] is good, very happy, very blessed?
