Cody Gakpo has given his opinion on all 24 of his Liverpool teammates in a quickfire interview, including some interesting descriptions of some of the club’s top stars.

Gakpo has been with the club for just over a year now, having made the move from PSV Eindhoven back in January 2023.

Should the new manager want to get a quick measure of his new squad, he could go straight to Gakpo.

During an interview with ESPN, Gakpo was asked to give one-word descriptions of each of his Liverpool teammates.

Virgil van Dijk was given “leader”, Luis Díaz “dribbling”, Dominik Szoboszlai “shooting”, Darwin Núñez “pace” and Alexis Mac Allister “intelligence”.

Others who will be happy with their descriptions include Adrián “father of the group”, Curtis Jones “top player”, Diogo Jota “Jogoal, because he always scores”, Joe Gomez “kindness himself”, Wataru End? “maturity”, Ryan Gravenberch “quality” and Jarell Quansah “big shift”.

Gakpo took a slightly different approach for some of his other teammates.

He dipped into some French for Ibrahima Konaté meanwhile, describing him as “mon frère” (my brother).

When asked about Thiago Alcântara, Gakpo said: “When I think about Thiago, I think about skills.” Alisson Becker was described as a “big brother in Christ, because he’s a religious person as well”, while left-backs Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson were described as “crazy guy” and “very, very funny” respectively.

Other players were given somewhat intriguing descriptions.

Summing up the defender, Gakpo simply said “shower” with no explanation.

Liverpool.com says: Who knows what that Matip description means.

Some things are better left unsaid.

It’s good to see Gakpo seems to be getting on well with his teammates though.
