Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is not resting on his laurels after winning the Premier League.

The Reds players have been afforded a few days off ahead of the clash against Arsenal, and it’s fair to say that some players are enjoying it.

Virgil van Dijk was spotted with Nathan Ake in the USA with Kevin Hart, while Harvey Elliott posted an image on a yacht on his Instagram story.

But Gakpo has been focused on his off-pitch business involvement.

The Dutchman has gotten involved in the tech startup ecosystem by participating in a $13 million Series A funding round for ScorePlay, a U.S.-based AI-powered sports content management platform.

The investment, led by venture capital firms 20VC and Seven Seven Six, underscores Gakpo’s desire to strategically align with innovative companies at the intersection of sports and technology.

ScorePlay’s platform automates the organization, tagging, and distribution of visual content for sports teams, leagues, and athletes using artificial intelligence.

By streamlining workflows that traditionally require manual effort, the tool enables clubs to efficiently manage vast libraries of photos and videos while ensuring content is readily accessible for marketing, social media, and archival purposes.

The platform already serves over 200 sports organizations globally, including Premier League clubs, the MLS, and the International Ski Federation (FIS).

In a LinkedIn post announcing his investment, Gakpo emphasized the platform’s relevance to his profession, stating, “ScorePlay strongly overlaps with my work as a football player?

The AI drastically reduces effort while improving quality, allowing clubs to focus on storytelling rather than administrative tasks.”

This marks Gakpo’s latest move in a series of strategic tech investments.

In January 2025, he joined England cricketer Ben Stokes in a £4 million funding round for Prosper, a London-based AI wealth management firm targeting high-net-worth individuals.

His LinkedIn profile further reveals he founded CMG Nexus in 2023, a venture focused on bridging sports and entrepreneurship, and has actively invested in startups like Fyxer AI, an AI productivity tool backed by Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
