Federico Chiesa may not be given the chance to bounce back from his disappointing debut season with Liverpool.
Liverpool‘s title win in Arne Slot’s debut season at Anfield was made to look all the more remarkable by the fact that it came with just £10million spent on one new signing in the form of Chiesa from Juventus.
The 27-year-old didn’t prove to be the game-changer he was expected to be though, as injuries limited Chiesa to just 14 appearances in all competitions and a solitary start in their Premier League title win.
That Premier League start against Brighton came with Liverpool’s 20th league crown already wrapped up, and Chiesa has continually been linked with a move away from Anfield after that lack of impact.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Liverpool will only look to break even by accepting £10m bids for Chiesa this summer, making the Italian highly affordable for most clubs.
Chiesa’s injury-afflicted first season at Anfield has seen him fall well down the pecking order, as Slot explores further additions out wide for Liverpool this summer which could leave the writing on the wall.

That low standing in Slot’s first-choice side was made clear on Monday, as Chiesa failed to make the starting lineups of either Liverpool XI in two back-to-back friendlies against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.
Chiesa came off the bench in the 57th minute of Liverpool’s second match to replace Hugo Ekitike up front, and posted on Instagram after full-time (5 August) with a message to Reds supporters.
Team-mate Cody Gakpo responded with a ‘flame’ and ‘heart’ emoji to Chiesa’s message, which said: “Last pre-season game before the start of the season!”

Football Insider Verdict
Chiesa’s place in the Anfield pecking order has already taken a hit this summer, as Liverpool completed the additions of Germany-based duo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz for a club-record £116.5m transfer fee.
Liverpool’s planned pursuit of Alexander Isak would cost a further £130m at least, and Slot plans to sell off Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott alongside Luis Diaz in order to raise funds for another huge move.
The Italy international is also expected to leave Liverpool this summer despite not being part of Slot’s exit plan to accelerate Isak’s transfer, but if the Reds need an additional seven-figure fee to get the deal done, expect Chiesa’s cards to be marked at Anfield.
