Cody Gakpo has provided a humorous response to a message shared by Liverpool teammate Ibrahima Konate.

After winning the Premier League title last season, Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday, 31 August, to ensure that they have won all three of their top-flight games this term.

The Reds face Burnley on 14 September in their next Premier League game, before their Champions League campaign gets underway with a clash against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Liverpool signed Alexander Isak in a record-breaking deal to conclude a largely successful summer transfer window.

Konate limped off the field and had to be replaced by fellow defender Joe Gomez when Liverpool defeated Arsenal on 31 August.

The 26-year-old also featured in the Merseyside outfit’s victories over Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Konate shared photos via Instagram on Tuesday, 2 September, captioned: “Happy new school year to all.”

Konate was a key asset for Arne Slot’s men last term, making 31 Premier League appearances as they won the top-flight title.

However, the centre-back has started the new season shakily, while Liverpool have already conceded four goals in just three league games.

Furthermore, the France international failed to clear his lines when Newcastle equalised during their 3-2 defeat to the Reds on 25 August.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s deadline day move for Marc Guehi collapsed, meaning that Slot was not able to find an upgrade on the former RB Leipzig man.

Therefore, Slot will need Konate to return to last season’s form as the Anfield giants vie to retain their Premier League title, as well as perform well in the Champions League.

Guehi helped Crystal Palace win the FA Cup last season, while he has also become a regular on the international scene for England, proving that he could be successful in the North West.
