It was a chilly evening at Anfield and the Chelsea players can attest to that.

Sky Sports commentator even joked: “What’s happening to footballers these days?” A penny for Roy Keane’s thoughts on the topic… On the pitch, Liverpool midfielder Fabinho returned to the starting line-up to face Chelsea after recovering from a muscle problem which has restricted him to one appearance in the last eight matches.

The Blues substitutes were seen huddling under blankets handed out by one of their staff members while the game was going on against Liverpool.

Mason Mount did eventually put Thomas Tuchel’s side in front with an excellent finish from the edge of the box as they led 1-0 at the break.

It was all Chelsea in the first half with Werner having great opportunities to put his side ahead.

Chelsea made three changes with Reece James, Jorginho and Timo Werner coming in for Mateo Kovacic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud.

He again played as a makeshift centre-back at the expense of Nat Phillips, with fellow Brazil international Alisson Becker returning in goal as the other change after he missed the weekend win over Sheffield United due to the death of his father.
