Chelsea players shared their reaction after the Blues made yet another signing in what’s proving to be a relentless transfer window.

The West London club has continued its big-spending approach under Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly this summer, with a string of new arrivals walking through the doors at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already confirmed deals for Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens, as the hierarchy look to fully support Enzo Maresca following a promising first season at the helm.

As much as the focus has been on incomings, the club have also been active in trimming the squad.

Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke were among the names to leave, both sealing moves to Arsenal earlier last month.

While the Blues have prioritised reinforcements in attack so far, attention now appears to be shifting to the backline, with a new defensive signing officially announced, sparking further reaction from across the squad.

Chelsea officially confirmed on 3 August that they have signed Ajax starlet Jorrel Hato in a £37 million deal.

The announcement was shared via the club’s official Instagram account and received reactions from a number of players, including Cole Palmer, Marc Cucurella and Chelsea legend John Terry, who all liked the post.

The 19-year-old is capable of playing both at left-back and centre-back and notably captained Ajax at just 17 years old, going on to make 111 appearances for the club.

His impressive rise to becoming a regular starter for the Dutch giants has naturally drawn interest from Europe’s elite.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool were among the clubs keeping a close eye on Hato, viewing him as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.

Arsenal were also said to have a long-standing interest in the defender, but Chelsea have won the race, strengthening their defensive options further ahead of the new campaign.

Following the signing of Hato, the Blues are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market.

Chelsea are now in advanced negotiations with RB Leipzig over a deal for Xavi Simons, with the Dutchman keen on a move to West London.

Simons recently removed Leipzig from his Instagram bio, with reports claiming it was a signal of intent to leave the club this summer.

Chelsea are looking to add further quality to both the flanks and midfield, and Simons is capable of playing in both roles, fitting the profile perfectly.
