Quizzed on his recent woes on the pitch, Palmer insisted that he ignored 'idiots' on social media.
The 22-year-old told Sky Sports: "I just felt normal.
Obviously s*** happens, I went three months without scoring but it just gives me more fight and motivation to do more for myself and for the team.
"Social media nowadays is full of idiots, the trolls and whatever.
When the broadcast flicked back to the studio, presenter Kelly Cates said: "A Player of the Match performance from Cole Palmer.
I felt confident and I was trying things, first-time passes, playing forwards… just playing free.”
Palmer was handed the Player of the Match award by team-mate Moises Caicedo, although interviewer Patrick Davison hinted that the former Manchester City star believed his colleague should have won it instead.
