Wayne Rooney has been mocked by his wife Coleen after he confessed to locking her out of their former home for displaying a Liverpool flag.
Coleen remains a devoted follower of the current Premier League champions, whilst Rooney was raised as an Everton supporter before establishing himself as a Manchester United icon.
The Rooney family finds itself split when the Merseyside derby arrives, with both the Blue and Red sides of Liverpool finding representation.
England legend Wayne featured in the heated fixture across two stints with the Toffees, and frequently battled Liverpool throughout his record-setting tenure with United.
Meanwhile, Coleen's loyalties rest with Arne Slot's squad, and the pair playfully clashed when Liverpool secured the league title five years ago.
Following Rooney's admission that he locked Coleen out of their home after she erected a flag commemorating Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp's 2019/20 title triumph, she turned to social media to persist in teasing her partner.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show ahead of the Merseyside derby, Rooney revealed details of an incident that took place in 2020 after the Reds' title-winning campaign.
"When they won the Premier League a few years ago, I actually came home, I was playing for Derby at the time, I've come home and Coleen has got Liverpool flags put up outside the house," he said.

"It was our old house, so outside the front door, there was a little balcony thing, and the flag was outside the window there.
So I told her to go and get it down!
"So we went up, and you actually had to climb out the window to get it down.
Not too long, but she was stuck on the balcony!"
A clip of Rooney's story was uploaded to social media platform X, and Coleen displayed her mischievous side as she seized the chance to twist the knife by reposting the video alongside a picture of her raising the flag.
Armed with masking tape, Coleen can be seen fastening a banner to the house's front balcony declaring "League champions 2019/20" and featuring images of manager Klopp and the Liverpool squad.
The 39-year-old accompanied the post with a series of crying-with-laughter emojis.
Rooney went on to say that facing Liverpool was invariably a fiery encounter, and he emphasised that he would frequently want to "smash" Reds icon Steven Gerrard whenever they clashed.
"We were good mates off the pitch and whenever I got a chance I'm thinking, 'I'm going to absolutely smash you,' and I did.
