Liverpool and Crystal Palace will meet in the 2025/26 season opener for the right to lift the Community Shield, live on talkSPORT.

The Community Shield sees the winners of the Premier League take on the FA Cup champions in a special one-off match to officially start the campaign.

And this time around, it will be Liverpool taking on Palace.

Arne Slot's men shocked everyone last year to cruise to the Premier League title in the Dutchman's first season in England.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner's side provided a moment Palace have never experienced by winning a trophy for the first time in the club's history.

The 2025/26 Community Shield will take place on Sunday, August 10.

Kick-off at Wembley is scheduled for 3pm.

The Reds have massively backed Slot this summer, splashing out well over £250million already.

Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike are all likely to play some part.

Speaking after Liverpool's 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in pre-season, Slot praised the club's work in the transfer market.

He said: "I think, what I’ve also said is I’m really happy with the squad we had.

"We won the league, but you can see everywhere around us – in the Premier League but also we play in Europe so we want to achieve things there as well – that all of these teams try to strengthen their squads.

So, we have to improve – the players that are still here and we’ve tried to bring new energy in but also ‘weapons’, as you called it, and I think the players we’ve brought in have shown already in the few times we have trained together and the games we’ve played.

Really pleased what we did until now, but already really pleased we kept the players that had an extended contract last season."
